Hi mate, welcome along!! First of, you have a Mk3 Astra which is indeed a fantastic car as for the engine. What makes you think its the leads thats causing the problem? Can you tell if the car is getting fuel or not? Are the leads sparking? Best way to test both is undo one of the fuel line unions on the injection rail and turn the car over. If fuel comes out, then that ends ok. Now the spark test, get an unused spark plug, pull out any plug lead and stick it in. Leave it sitting on the Cam cover on the engine or on any metal part of the car. Turn it over and if it sparks then that end is alright and it looks like your leads are in the wrong order.

That said the leads should be numbered at either end.

Type Vauxhall Ecotec Engine pic into Google and you'll get loads.

Type Vauxhall Ecotec Engine pic into Google and you'll get loads.

Only problem with that is that it could throw up a load of different Ecotecs!

I think the idea is to see the plug order though. ;)

I think the idea is to see the plug order though. ;)

Not easy to see on most Ecotecs as you can see below.

Think his point is that typing in a search for ecotec engine will not necessarily bring up a 4 pot. :wink
Wouldn't that be something else to be able to say that the Corvette engine in a Monaro is an ecotec engine.

Ok so type in vauxhall 1.8 ecotec engine pic. It brought up 2 4 pots when I tried it.
