There is so much crap in this area of car it is unbelievable! Biggest problem I see is that for the first couple of years of these cars lives their owners abused them by either putting the wrong oil in or not putting any oil in! The amount of 02 to 07 versions of these that I have seen seize or just blow up is stupid!

It is not that these are bad cars, just most people who bought them did it for a "Lifestyle" reason and then fooked them up! :stupid

I know the Polish lads love these but they want top drawer versions — they will drop a crap one but will not want to loose dosh in doing so! I have a couple of Polish mates and they can not understand why Irish people abuse cars by not servicing them or doing it on the cheap — I kind of have to agree with them!!!!

very true they will look after cars better than the irish put the right fulids in but that dont make the car worth more than the markt price i went to look at audi est a6 2.5 tdi all the bells an whistles 106 k,miles on clock nice car but i could tell it was more like 306k .miles and most of all the german deisel cars that all the (LADS) have are clocked or **** at way over the top price the start yr a 01 passat was at least 500 euro less and i know coz i have been looking for one 90% of all passats /audi anything deisel forget about it well thats what iv found between early feb and now correct me if im wrong

For a start, Passats and A4's are waaayyy over priced here. They are living off of the reputation of the pre 97 model Passat which was bullet proof.
I had an 02 Passat Estate TDI for nearly 2 years and couldn't wait to get rid of it. I had a pain in my arse from putting front suspension arms into it. When I sold it the rear axle bushes were gone in it. If you want to fit 17" alloys to a Passat/ A4 then you can rest assured that the Irish roads will make short work of the front and back suspension. They are way over rated and not suited to our roads. I'll never touch one again.
A Passat 4motion or A4 TDI Quattro does have a much stronger suspension but parts for these are crazy expensive.
Vectra CDTi is the only way to go!

Have to agree with willie on this one ,work on these alot and the suspension arms are a joke, they dont last on our roads.
