While the battery in the Monza has not let me down so far it has been struggling to crank the engine. I was considering fitting a larger alternator and larger battery bit it involved changing brackets and stuff so I decided on trying a different battery!
The one fitted in the car was an 065 with a Capacity of 53Ah and 450A CCA(EN)! I fitted an 075 Varta Silver Dynamic battery which, while the same physical size offers a capacity of 61Ah and 600A CCA(EN)!
It will be interesting to see how it performs! One good thing I spotted today was that the old battery fitted could have caused a problem as it was up against the top radiator hose and had caused an indent in it which had it been left in place I am sure would have eventually caused the hose to burst at some point! I fitted the new battery away from this hose!

Where?
Will tell you but will cost ya
Small pipe from header tank should be around the other side of the battery , routed like that will crack the header tank or even over the top of the batery

OK! I now owe you! I had wondered about that pipe but I am not sure it is long enough to go around the battery. :think
Even if its across the top of the battery it will take the stress of the header tank , they crack around that area at the best of times , the hose above the dizzy should have the clip bolted via the rocker cover bolt as well

Handy changing the battery may have saved ya a breakdown later on. This is battery season anyway if it was anyway dodgy this weather will kill it.
A genuine GM battery would have been a nice touch instead, especially with them being cheap enough in the trade club.

I think I will have to take a closer look at these hoses! They were all fitted at a Vauxhall main dealers in London —*can't say I have been impressed with some of their work so far — it was them who caused all the trouble with the brand new rear caliper which I then had to replace!

It would but this did not cost me a lot ;)

I found the GM GO batteries a waste of time. The older freedom lasted longer.

It all depends on who they get to make their batteries. The older GM badged batteries did seem to be better but I think they were expensive for GM so they went for a cheaper battery.
