View Full Version : Dods Corsa A City
Right, I got this in Meath of a chap most will probably know called Mick. It came as a non runner with a China Blue Corsa A that was sold on. On brief inspection the car it looked ugh as the rear window had been broken and taped up, and the steering wheel had snapped off so it just sat in a corner for months gathering spiders.
So I got a Corsa B GSi at the right money for breaking and thought, what will I do with the engine. Origionally, itwas to be C20XE powered but this was sold in favour of the C16XE engine.
SO work started....
Apex suspension, Cav SRi Master Cylander, Drilled & Grooved GSi Corsa Front brakes the engine from the same!!

THanks to my mate Karol Eddie for the Welding of the Bay....

And the engine, which fits straight in but is an aweful ****** as its a C16XE Ecotec with an imobiliser wired through the brain. The easy part is done!

So the car was sent to Karol Eddie to be wired but he could never master it, so with Les's help on the SX, once its finished it can be used as a guide for this one.
It still needs a set of 15" Steels, a proper System, the Cage is to be ordered this weekend, purchases pending, and as soon as I get an interior for the SX Nova, Buckets and Harnesses are being transplanted into this.
Anyway, a few parts needed for it yet but its not a milliom miles away.

Body wise, its staying as it is until I get an early SR interior for it and a set of the origional door rub strips (although I may have a set sourced) at which point its engine out, car painted Jamica Yellow and the Origional Snow Plough, SR Window Trims and Wrap around spoiler will be fitted to make a proper Corsa A GT Replica.
Thanks to Bob for the Opel GT Wheels and Les for getting me the Snow Plough and Wrap around spoiler.

Them seats should be a easy fit :lol
Bit laid back though for driving
They're to be roof mounted to keep the car a 4 seater so happy days!!
Well, no updates engine wise but I have now got the Snow Plough (Cheers RRV8) The Bumpers, single piece and matching rear (Thanks V.Much to AMG), the Opel Corsa A GT Wheels (thanks Bob) and the Grey SR Window Surrounds. Just needing a period interior now and its sorted.

ah you should leave it lookin like that for a while, could be very entertaining to give a few frights with it
Thats the plan in the mean time mate, I have a Black door and a red wing to fit along with a decent set of tryes and I'd test and drive it as it is. :lol
Just need to get it wired. :(
Anyway, have the full Corsa A GT kit for it, just need to source an interior to match and I'm laughing.
Ok a news flash. :lol
I just sourced a Brown Burbery Interior for it at a Bargin price!! I'm to collect in on Friday so its all down to Wiring it now and then having it sprayed.
Although as the wiring is such a nightmare a 20SE or maybe even a 20XE might find its way in depending on which I have lieing spare.

Patience my man , out of Bundoran now , get xmas out the way and it will be running
:lol, you know me. A big rush on when something nice comes along, then it'll gather dust in the back room for months.
Also, another update. I sourced a load of spare Panels, an Ex Rally Disc Brake rear beam and a Sparco 6pt Bolt in Cage. Need to arrange collection of the cage as it wont fin into the Corsa. :lol

Time to get the Hammerite out me thinks.
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92/Dods1/PICT0084.jpg
2 very mint GTE Doors, (1 for the Blue Nova and the other for the Post Van)
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92/Dods1/PICT0083.jpg
2 boot lids, 1 with a GTE Boot Spoiler, a Very good bonnet and a Wing that I got from Cormac. There are alos 2 brand new early Wings, GM parts in Primer but they're inside and out of the rain. :D
Recession, unemployment?? Pfffft, I'm doing better now than I ever have been.
Time to get the Hammerite out me thinks.
Dont waste your money , hammerite is only any good for garden gates if you dont mind repainting them each year
Ok, shoot. What'll give me a nice glossy smooth finish and keep Niall busy for an hour or so?
Steelmaster 2 pac is the best if you can get it as its an industrial paint , failing that Triflow is better than hammerite
Give it a good wire brush down then treat it with rust killer before painting it
Give niall a smaller brush , should keep him going
Painted all the suspension on the Monza 2 year ago and its not left the garage since , looks worse underneath now than before i painted it for rust
Nice one then so!!
I'm away tomorrow to collect the cage and the GT Interior for this now so the Engine and the Painting are the only things holding me up. In fact I might take the engine out and have the bay painted as well.
So got the Springs and Interior anyway...
Apex -40mm Springs, to make it all look a little more sensible:

And the interior.

Slight ware on the drivers seatbut it hasnt worn through. It even has the B Pillar Vynal, just need to get the A Pillar stuff but everything else is there includinmg the correct brown carpet and Arch liners for the rear, bar the 6 Dial Clock, but I think Bob may have given me a set of these a while ago.
Ok, not looking so bad now.
Thanks again to AMG for supplying me with a set of early door handles and Rub Strips. Need to make a decision on what colour its going.
