I hope Kahaya doesn't mind but I was talking to 2 of the Organisers in person on Saturday night. They were down in Coachford, Co. Cork. The Cork boys challenged them to a Tractor Build. Mountbellew lads, 2008 finalists had a best time of 9 min 40sec before comming to Cork. The Cork boys stopped the clock at 7 min 01 sec, stunning everyone.

Back to Topic, We have a space for 20 to 30 cars reserved for us. So hopefully we can fill the space they are giving us.

Right all,

I've just been in contact with Phil Coffey the secretary of the Mountbellew Vintage Club (thanks to Ted for passing on the number) and he's reserving approximately 20 spaces for us for the show. He asked me to let him know the numbers attending in 2 weeks time.
The setup for the show will be a 5 acre field for the cars alone, they are expecting up to 1000 cars. The tractors, threshers and machinery will be in a separate field. He also asked us to get there as early as possible. I've got a flag for the club stand. Meal and plaque for attendance is supplied to exhibitors.
So lets get a rolling list going of who's attending

That's a good trip and we'd be more than delighted to see you there.
It's gonna be a very big show, the organisers are expecting about 1000 cars alone.

Or you could make a weekend of it and head for the big smoke (Galway) and then take a trip out to Mountbellew on the Sunday, it's only a 30 minute trip! We'll do the convoy then :thumbup:, we'll discuss the details closer to the time, make sure we're all coming to the show from the same direction - if some people are coming from the Galway direction we'll meet up in Moylough, outside the church, it's then a 5 minute drive to the showgrounds, we can meet the others coming from the Athlone direction in Mountbellew outside the Argicultural College (its on the main street) or at the statue of Bobbyjo in the town squarehttp://www.mountbellew.com/images/bobbyjoe1.jpgand then on to the showgrounds.
I have to contact the secretary of the club next week to let him know the definite numbers so anyone else that's interested please let me know.

Direction to the show in Mountbellew

From the South:
Head for Oranmore.

At Oranbeg take the road for Claregalway.
At traffic lights in Claregalway turn right towards Tuam.
Outside Claregalway and before coming to a Seat garage (if you see the Seat garage turn around and go towards Claregalway again, then take the first left after the garage) there is a turn to the right signposted Roscommon.
Continue on this road through the villages of Lackagh & Turloughmore and Abbeyknockmoy until you come to a crossroads @ Barnaderg.
At this crossroads take a right and head to the village of Moylough. (We can arrange to meet here for the convoy.)


From the North:

Head to Tuam you'll be on the N17.
At the third set of traffic lights, take the left turn (this will bring you towards the town centre).
Go over the set of train tracks and once past this you'll see a roundabout (or dustbin lid in the road), take the second exit. At the next roundabout take the first exit, and continue on this road for approximately 20 mins before you reach Mountbellew. On the way you'll pass through Barnaderg, and then Moylough. (We can arrange to meet here for the convoy.)

From the East:

Head for Athlone. Once there head for the end of the Athlone bypass. There's roadworks going on there at the moment and a new roundabout at the end of the bypass.
Take the road signposted Tuam. It's not a great road but this is the shortest way to get there! You'll pass though Dysart and Ballyforan.
After crossing the bridge in Ballyforan there is a Y in the road, signposted Caltra/Ahascragh and Mountbellew/Newbridge.
The main road goes to Mountbellew/Newbridge which is to the right of the Y. About a half mile further down this road there is a signpost for Mountbellew/Tuam.
Take this road, it's a bog road and very bumpy so take it handy along here. At the end of this road you'll be in Mountbellew (this road is about 10 kms long). If there is a convoy from the Tuam side we can meet in the square in Mountbellew.

Alternative route from the East:

Head to Galway via Athlone & Ballinasloe and then when you get to Oranbeg take the directions as From the South above. It's a much better road!

Update:
Was talking to Phil Coffey last night (secretary of the Mountbellew Vintage club), told him we had a definite 19 coming and that I'd ring him with final numbers next Tuesday.
He said he's going to keep a space for approximately 30 cars, that includes the one's who hope to make the show and those that just turn up on the day. They have a contingency plan should the weather not behave itself.

There will be a welcome pack haded out to all exhibitors on entering the show site which will contain a meal & plaque voucher, a exhibitor sheet and a voucher for a free coffee/tea and a muffin.

Suggestion for TotalOpel Convoy to Mountbellew

It has been recommended to me by the organisers of the I.V.E.T.A. National Rally in Mountbellew that we should arrive @ the show site no later than 11 AM on the morning of the show.

• For the convoy I suggest that we meet between 10 and 10:10 AM @ The Central Tavern, Loughgeorge, Claregalway, Co. Galway on the N17 (this is a pub/restaurant and I suggest we gather in the car park).
• Leave @ 10:10 head for Moylough which takes 26 mins. Meet those coming from the North @ Moylough outside the Church.
• Leave @ 10:40 head for Mountbellew which takes another 5 mins.
• Meet the rest of the people coming from the East in The Square, Mountbellew before heading to the show site.

I've just got off the phone from the Secretary of the Mounbellew Vintage Club and he's holding the space for 30. I informed him we have 22 definitely attending. He also requested that we be there as early as possible, I mentioned 11 and his response was that it is the perfect time.

@ Manta_mad, we need to get a smaller marquee/gazebo than the one 87Manta has as it's too large, so if you don't mind can you please bring it along.
A big thanks :thumbup: to 87Manta for the offer of the larger marquee but as the Fingal show is cancelled they're expecting even more exhibitors in Mountbellew so therefore need all the space!

If there is anything else I can do, please let me know and I'll try to help!

It's just outside Mountbellew, Got up there this evening, The Cork Tractor Build Boys were the fastest again @ 6min 48 sec. Staying in Corralea Court Hotel in Tuam & on my way in to Mountbellew some GIT in a Corolla had mounted the ditch, ran along it for about 30 meters & out on the road again. Blocked the road for a while. While in traffic backup I nearly got sandwiched. Not good for the heart.

No Peter, there is a parking area not 20 yards from the garage, we'll try to park there. The garage is inside Mountbellew itself just head on the road to Tuam you can't miss it.
