Hello all! Apologies if this is in the wrong place, this is my first post! I'm presently building a manta 400r and managed to get my mitts on wide arch Ronals! Has anybody heard of these being put on a GTE before....and more importantly, does anybody know how it can be done??
Looking forward to putting up start to finish pictures up in projects and restorations when she's finished! Got her sandblasted today, very solid, some minor welding needed but not even a hole under the battery!!!! I hope someone can help, :vio cheers!

I got the whole underside blasted and one or two carefully picked dodgy looking spots. left the flat panels alone! I'll TRY to stick a photo up here now, I cut down tree's, not a computer kinda guy! Thanks for the info Gary, Isuppose anything worth having is hard to get!!!!! I'm bound for England next week so i'll phone about and see if i can locate an axle! If Peter's reading i'm afraid i can't send messages yet but feel free to give me a shout on 0851606850, cheers, Ciaran!

Just a quick shout to Mantamad also, sorry i didn't get to spin up to you before i took her apart. Hopefully we'll be ready for the spin whenever the sunshine decides to arrive!!!!:)
WOW, I dont think much of the way the car is supported in the first pic. Other than that, great work.

It worked out at around 650 as had to travel to me. the problems are...
1. Weather...if it's looking any way like drizzle forget about it, if it rains your car's in trouble, best get it straight to a spray booth when the jobs done.
2. Getting all the sand out after works done. I spent about 6 hours blowing and hoovering that evening.
3. the sand won't remove everything. if there's a big build up of underseal in the wheel arches yo best get a chisle out first. Bushes and tyres will not be affected, you could sandblast a balloon all day and the sand will just bounce off.
4. Holes..... the process WILL uncover holes you never knew your car had, i guess that's the idea of getting it done in the first place, cure problems before they become terminal.
I'll contact that man tomorrow when i get his number, if he's happy to have his name and number posted on the site i'll leave up details for all. I certainly can't complain about the work, great job done, he's very thorough! While he was working i threw in the steel wheels from my golf, they came out great too!

I know a guy whose got a Commodore GS/E that's for sale. Not only do you get the 5stud axles stubs, you could go the whole hog and do a 5 link rear axle, with 5 stud and LSD .......plus the 5 stud axles for the front end.
If you break it you get all the other Commodore GS/E nice bits too.
Drop me a PM if i can help.

That sounds ok money i was thinking about sandblasting my own.
I have 2 uncles in Roscommon with mobile sandblasting units but was worryed about sealing it afterward i was afraid the front of the car would start to rust over again before i got to the boot.

That lads name is Tommy Donlon. He is based in Newtownforbes in Longford.
You might see him under Shotblasting Longford.
If anyone here is involved in autocrosses or the Cavan autocross you'll see him in his silver & purple 106.

NO Ciaran at a stand still last time i went out to do some work on her the young lad sat on the bonnet and i can not open it now.
I had the battery out and can not start it to bring her up the road to a lift.
