There must be a story behind them, sentimental values or something. But thats still no excuse, they're probably far too far gone for realistic restorations but still.

What ya reckon lads, group buy and take them all with us?

Something has to be worth saving!

It's criminal just letting them rot there!

TBH the only one there that looke 1/2 way alright is the Corsa A and I'd bet its probably full of holes underneith. Its a sickener.

I was gona do a write up on this place but I kept forgetting. I drive by it a lot cause my new car storage place is just up the road from here. I have loads of pics of them too but not on me at the minute. But I have some kinda maybe good news about these cars. There is a hell of a lot more Opels there than what can be seen in the pic. I spoke to the owner about 6 weeks ago and he's an alright guy. He told me his story of how they all came to be there. The 80's ones just were left there over the years but the 60's and 70's ones were meant to be restored. He does still want to restore one or two of them but he told me to give him a month or two and give him a knock and he may know by then if he'll sell some off. He knows he needs to do something with them soon cause at one stage in the last few months there was a For Sale sign up on that piece of land. I've been meaning to go back up to him but haven't had a chance yet. I'd be very interested in the Kadett C's he has. Both saloons. Good for bits. There is also a potential future Dod project hiding there too. A very rear Corsa A 2 door saloon. There is none of them anywhere now and he has one. I think we should organise to all show up one day in our Opels and have a serious chat with this fella. He is alright and he is still interested in Opels as I think he has a lovely Ascona A Estate hidden away somewhere. And one of the yoke lyin there is an Ascona A 2 door sallon with castrol stickers on. It's deadly lookin! So what do yiz say? Something needs to be done before they end up being turned into washing machines.

I just noticed the For Sale sign is in one of them pictures ;)

That Red Corsa is a 5 door hatch. It is ok though.

The 2 door saloon is calling you Dod. Think about it :001_tt2:

That Commodore is way too far gone to do anything with. It's really really in a bad way. So is that Manta A. I love the Gold 4 door Rekord/Commodore there, and it's fixable I'd say.

Bob, I'm doing a 5dr at the moment and yes, a Saloon is definately something I've been looking for as well. As for all of us landing down to his place in the Opels, I'd be up for that if I got a few days notice first though.

A few days ey?......See you there at 3pm today then  It's not that far from Duleek, where I collected the Carlton off you Dod. We should all meet somewhere and land on his door step. Dod would you come down to the Trim Classic Car Show next Sunday 20th? And everyone else for that matter??? Come on! The Trim Show is always a good one.

Its getting there thats the problem. Dont wanna be landing down in the Missus's Colt!! LOL

I'd love to go all the same but I doubt the missus would go for it especially with the wee girl and Puppy being ill at the moment. Need to sort a Nova out and take it.

Talking to Andy Turner of North West Opel Parts tonight and he was telling me that this is the Ascona Voyager that he sold to this chap.
I seen and drove the car when I photo'd it in 2004 and it was a really nice car .

I drove by this yard 2 nights ago and nothing has changed. All still there. I need to stop in again soon before they all disapear. That is the Orange Ascona Estate he has alright and it has a few changes too, mainly a big dent on the back left quarter panel which I can see wasn't there back in 2004. But I don't know where he has that yoke now.

I drove by them yesterday. All still there. I was in too much of a hurry to stop.

Last weekend I drove by too and a house a few yards up the road had 2 gorgeous Manta GT/E's in the garden. They must be a bit Opel mad in Wilkinstown

Bob, what about the pics of the Corsa?

Which Corsa Dod? The 2 door Saloon or the red 4 door Saloon that's actually in those pics? I original thought that was a 5 door hatch but it's not. It's a Saloon. I didn't get a pic of the 2 door. I didn't see it the day I had my camera on me. I saw the 2 door the day I was actually chatting to the chap who owns them.

But I agree, something has to be done. I see visions of the Titanic at the bottom of the Atlantic when looking at some of them pics.

Dod
18-12-2008, 10:07 AM
They are pretty soon going to be unusable, like the Commadore Coupe, so I think we need to act fast people.

2 Corsas?? I'm mad to get a 2 and a 4dr saloon actually, that was I'd have 1 of each body type.
